Sold out Kendal Calling announces United Utilities partnership

UK: With Kendal Calling long sold out and only a month left until revellers descend on Lowther Deer Park for a weekend of music, art and film, the festival has revealed a new partnership with United Utilities – the UK’s largest listed water company.

In a bid to phase out disposable water bottles over the next few years, the festival will welcome UU on site to provide some 5000 reusable water bottles to festivalgoers, dramatically decreasing plastic waste in the process.

With the protection of the surrounding Lake District of huge concern to the festival, United Utilities will also be improving the infrastructure of water delivery to the site, hopefully resulting in excellent ecological benefits to the area.

Ben Robinson of Kendal Calling said: “We have the utmost respect for our beautiful setting,” said Kendal Calling Director and Event Promoter Ben Robinson. “As such we are thrilled to be partnering with United Utilities in order to encourage efficient use of water and a reduction of waste by literally thousands of plastic bottles. One of the saddest sights at a festival is the waste left behind and we are committed to reducing it in everyday we can.”

Kendal Calling will take place from July 30 – August 2, and features headliners The Vaccines, Snoop Dogg, Kaiser Chiefs, Elbow and James.

Each year the festival supports charities including Alder Hey, Guide Dogs For The Blind, Hospice At Home, Penrith Lions, North West Air Ambulance and the David Lynch Foundation.
