KB Concerts has announced a first of its kind for Stevenage’s SG arena. A 9.5K-capacity live music stadium event spanning three days with big-named artists taking to the stage to bring an event that people from the surrounding areas can easily access with brilliant multi-transport links via train, bus and car.
The first act to be annouced is t,he iconic multi-platinum-selling Richard Ashcroft, joined beforehand by the Zutons, The Futureheads and Optimist.
“This a hugely exciting new music event for the town, bringing globally known artists to the Lamex Stadium,” said Stevenage FC director Stuart Dinsey. “The organisers have proven themselves with the success of other local events, so we jumped at the chance to work with them. SMR 25 will further strengthen our work with the local community and beyond.”
Councillor Richard Henry, Leader of Stevenage Borough Council, said: “It’s great to hear about another large-scale event being planned within the Stevenage calendar. Our town has a strong heritage of music and culture, and it’s fantastic to see this set to continue to grow. Events such as this are also great for the local economy, bringing lots of people to the area to see what Stevenage has to offer.”
The organisers, who also run Stevenage and Ware’s “Old Town Live”, promise an eclectic three day series of shows that appeal to most musical tastes. The duo is making it their mission to bring more music to the SG1 and SG2 postcodes, making music affordable and accessible to their home town.
“We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure each day attracts a different demographic of household names, to bring a larger music event to the local area with a view of this being an annual event for higher-end shows whilst keeping costs as low as possible to make music accessible to everyone.” – Ben Allingham, & Kriss Lawrence – Owners – KB Concerts.
