In the wake of the success of Brighten The Corners Festival 2023, which featured The Go! Team, 86TVs, Picture Parlour, Coops and loads more, Ipswich’s leading multi-venue music festival and a formidable event for emerging has announced the first round of artists set to play in 2024.
The initial line-up includes British tuba player and composer Theon Cross, the infectious Isle of Wight indie rockers Coach Party, Mercury Prize nominee and Grace Jones collaborator Dave Okumu with full band The 7 Generations, experimental indie trio The Orielles, alt country inspired four piece Divorce, genre bending Irish collective Bricknasty, NME’s ‘essential new band’ mary in the junkyard and Miss Tiny, the new project from Speedy Wunderground’s (Wet Leg, Slowthai, Fontaines D.C.) Dan Carey.
The full list of names announced includes Borough Council, Bricknasty, C Turtle, CLT DRP, Coach Party, Dave Okumu & The 7 Generations, Divorce, JIM, Man/Woman/Chainsaw, Mary In The Junkyard, Miss Tiny, The Orielles, Prima Queen, Tapir!, Theon Cross, Ugly.
Speaking on the announcement, Festival Programmer Marcus Neal says “we are so excited to be releasing the first names for next summer’s festival. We aim to bring an exciting and eclectic line-up of new and emerging artists to Ipswich and this is just the start with many more names to be announced in the new year.”
Super Early Birds tickets released in August sold out in 12 hours.

The festival continues to showcase a diverse array of new music spanning genres and styles, reflecting the festival’s commitment to delivering an unforgettable and inclusive experience and making a name for themselves amongst tastemaking festivals. Utilising the town’s selection of venues ranging from 70-900 cap, the organisers can confirm they will use The Smokehouse, St Stephen’s Church, The Baths, The Corn Exchange and the Cornhill as their main venues.
Brighten The Corners also continue their partnership with the University of Suffolk for the festival and will announce more sponsor details in the new year. ‘Ipswich might not be on your musical map right now. But if Brighten The Corners is anything to go by, it fully deserves to be.’ Clash Magazine journalist Tom Kingsley wrote graciously of the festival in his live report, saying ‘it’s a showcase to the wider world of what Ipswich has to offer: in music, in venues, in people and ideas.’
