As the summer festival season kicks into gear, sportswear brand MEYBA has been creating bespoke football shirts for some of the globes most pioneering music festivals.
Having already created exclusive collaboration shirts with Austrian snowboarding and music festival Snowbombing, Barcelona’s underground electronic music party, Festival B, Manchester clubbing behemoth The Warehouse Project as well as the first ever football collaboration with The Beatles, the latest festival to partner with the sportswear company is rock music titan Download, with the two iconic brands coming together for the first time to release a limited edition football shirt with just 400 shirts available to purchase.
Jonathan Jones, Head of Global Marketing at MEYBA explains the reasoning behind this exciting collaboration: “The worlds of music, football culture and fashion have never felt closer, that’s clear to see with football shirts, classic 80’s, 90’s retro or new season drops being worn everywhere from catwalks to festivals and the high street. MEYBA’s collaboration with Download is unique and we are proud to create a true collector’s item for festival fans”.
MEYBA gained worldwide prominence in the 1980s when the sportswear company solidified its place in football history by becoming the official kit supplier for FC Barcelona during one of the club’s most successful periods. The iconic MEYBA kits adorned legendary players such as Diego Maradona, Pep Guardiola and Gary Lineker as the legendary team were managed by Johan Cruyff.
With many more collaborations with festivals, clubs and artists to come MEYBA is authentically tapping into the nostalgia and romance around vintage football shirts, creating collectable one-off limited edition football shirts for fans
