Following hot on the heels of a sold out 2023, Boardmasters is back next summer from and today drops their first wave of artists, including two headliners. Stormzy and Chase & Status Live top the bill for next August, along with 30+ more artists revealed today (with tons more still to come). This summer’s Boardmasters was the biggest to date, selling out in record time; demand is at an all-time high with a record tens of thousands of fans signing up for the festival’s presale.
Shut Up… Stormzy is headlining Boardmasters 2024. Stormzy is the multi-award-winning musician from South London, whose three albums to date; ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’, ‘Heavy Is The Head’ and ‘This Is What I Mean’ all shot to #1 in the UK album chart, with the former two subsequently being nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize. Stormzy is one of the UK’s most inspiring figureheads who has consistently stood up for people from all areas of life; encouraging his fans and listeners alike to speak openly about their beliefs and fight for their rights. With huge hits including The Weekend, Vossi Bop, Shut Up and more, it’s set to be a massive headline set when Stormzy takes on Boardmasters next summer.
Trailblazing drum’n’bass duo Chase & Status will be heading to Cornwall next summer to headline Boardmasters. The duo will be bringing their full live band and special guests to the main stage at Watergate Bay. Chase & Status have been at the fore of dance music for two decades, breaking boundaries in the drum & bass scene, the pair are a force to be reckoned with. With a catalogue of timeless classics and anthemic club bangers, they’ve just dropped 2 RUFF, Vol.1 this month. One of the most requested Boardmasters headliners ever, Chase & Status are ready to delight fans with an unmissable live set packed with their biggest hits, Blind Faith, End Credits, Mixed Emotions, Baddadan and much more.
Plus, back by popular demand, Becky Hill returns to Boardmasters. The BRIT Award-winning chart-topper will no doubt have everyone on their feet as she performs anthems including Crazy What Love Can Do, Remember, Lose Control and latest track Disconnect with Chase & Status. Belfast-born electronic music duo Bicep present Chroma, their audio/visual DJ set at Boardmasters ‘24. Expect nothing short of a jaw-dropping set from Bicep, the pair behind Glue, Apricots and Aura, who’ve been shaping the electro landscape since they first emerged on the scene.
As well as champion of the DIY spirit, producer, singer, songwriter and artist Nia Archives will serve up hip-hop, soul, jazz and jungle infused goodness at Watergate Bay, along with Another Love singer-songwriter Tom Odell who’s treating fans to a flurry of new music right now, as well as London’s genre-spanning singer Hell N Back hitmaker Bakar and two-man punk-rock outfit FKA Slaves, SOFT PLAY and on a mission to drop banger after banger on the coast, Katy B. Meanwhile making their Boardmasters festival debut, Grammy-nominees The Teskey Brothers will serve up soulful blues goodness including fan-favourites Forever You and Me and So Caught Up.
Also joining the line-up is the singer behind viral #1 hit Strangers, Kenya Grace and Say She She, the Brooklyn-based trio whose album Prism received rave reviews including Guardian describing it as “boundary-busting discodelic soul”. Plus, UK rapper Songer who’s rapidly risen to become a force to be reckoned with, having collaborated with Bad Boy Chiller Crew and Vibe Chemistry, and racking up millions of streams with hits Vino Bandit and Endlessly and one of the Guardian’s recent ‘ones to watch’, US singer bringing back the soul’s golden sounds, Jalen Ngonda.
Issey Cross will also be making her way to the Cornish coast following the success of the banging Bittersweet Goodbye, plus Antony Szmierek is lined up for his debut – one of the most exciting emerging artists of the moment, effortlessly mixing spoken word with catchy dance beats he’s been described by Lauren Laverne as “the best thing [she’s] heard all year”, plus Leeds’ own post-punk band, English Teacher, and Cornwall’s notorious anonymous sensation Jam & Meme.
The DJ and electro line-up for Boardmasters is hotting up, too with one of the most prolific names in d’n’b Andy C, B.O.T.A’s Eliza Rose who’s teaming up with Calvin Harris for her latest offering, plus Good Love hitmaker, bringing high energy bouncy techno goodness to Cornish shores, Hannah Laing and trance’s finest Marlon Hoffstadt. Plus, Darren Styles, Friction, Gok Wan, Jazzy, Alex Mills, Ammara, Charlie Tee b2b Lens, Girls Next Door, Jess Iszatt, Lens and Sota.
The Boardmasters OPEN means festival-goers can head to Fistral Beach in Newquay to watch some of the most progressive and exciting names in international pro surfing crowned as the next Boardmasters champions, across five exhilarating days. Competitions include the Boardmasters OPEN men’s and women’s division and the Boardmasters Longboard OPEN men’s and women’s division. Plus festival goers can also witness the new generation of groms showcasing their talent in the Boardmasters Junior OPEN boys and girls division – more info will be dropped early next year.
Beyond the music, there’s tons for festival goers to get stuck into at Boardmasters. This year, the festival has teamed up with nine local schools to provide opportunities for attendees to engage in all sorts of fun water-based activities, from beginners right through to advanced. Hosted across three nearby locations, Watergate Bay, Fistral Beach, Towan Bay, Newquay Town Centre, activities include surf lessons, coasteering, kayaking tours, surf hire (wetsuits and boards), new for 2024 – the high speed boat ride, SUP tours, superSUP tours, SUP and snorkel tours and bodyboard lessons. Campers can take a moment to chill at Boardmasters’ Zennor Haven. The perfect place for a moment of mindfulness, where festivalgoers can find experts leading sound baths, wellness discussions and panel talks, massages and workshops. This is the spot to connect with nature, the beautiful surroundings of the Cornish coast and much more. For those looking for workouts and weights, Muscle Beach will return for 2024. Located within the campsites, this is Boardmasters’ very own full outdoor gym which comes complete with DJs, daily challenges and prizes to be won. There’s also a pop-up cinema in the campsites, where attendees can lay back and enjoy their favourite films until the small hours.
It doesn’t stop there – there’s a whole host of entertainment to kickstart the day, and continuing well into the night. This includes the Keg & Pastonbury, The Boulevard, Daily Beach Cleans, Street Food, Pub Quizzes, Surf Screenings, Bingo, Karaoke, Family Fun, the fabulous Cornwall Rock Choir belting out singalong classics (and conga lines are firmly encouraged) and even more still to be revealed.
