DENMARK: At Folk Spot Denmark, the international music business and media are given a closer look at the Danish and Nordic music scenes. They will also have the opportunity to experience Tønder Festival, which for more than 40 years has been one of the most influential folk and roots festivals in Europe.
This year John Prine, The Lone Bellow, Sturgill Simpson, Bellowhead and Richard Thompson are among the headliners. The Danish and Nordic acts under the spotlight are Northern Assembly, Idea Wenøe & The Silver Cords, Maja & David, Erlend Viken Trio, Lukkif, Jansberg, M.C. Hansen, and Phønix.
Folk Spot Denmark is not like other showcase and music industry festivals. The showcase acts have been carefully curated by a jury consisting of Danish and international music business and media veterans, and the international guests have been invited to create an effective networking platform for both the artists and the guests.
“At folk Spot Denmark we don’t have delegates. We have guests. And it is with this mind-set we organise the entire event – from airport pickups and night-time shuttles to accommodation and dinner events. We do our utmost to make our guests feel comfortable, informed and carefree from they arrive until they leave,” said Rasmus Fribo, Project Coordinator of Folk Spot Denmark 2015.
The showcase line-up consists of one Norwegian and seven Danish acts, all of whom have already got international experience and are ready to boost their international careers. The eight acts reflect the diversity of Danish and Nordic folk – from tunes and songs with deep roots in Nordic folk music traditions to Americana with a distinctive Nordic stamp.
