UK: Fan to fan ticket exchange Twickets has agreed a deal with the specialist entertainment retailer Fopp to enable music fans to drop and collect gig and festival tickets in-store.
The new service – aptly titled Drop & Collect – enables buyers and sellers to exchange tickets in their own time, providing those listing a ticket with an innovative and convenient way to deliver. Customers will receive a text alert and email once tickets are ready for collection, with a £2.50 handling charge applied per transaction.
The new service has gone live at central Manchester’s Fopp store on Brown Street, and is expected to roll out nationally over the coming year. By offering a more convenient way to pick up tickets, Drop & Collect hopes to steer fans away from touts and the extortionate deals found on secondary ticketing sites.
Richard Davies, Founder of Twickets, said: “We want to make it easier for music fans to purchase official gig tickets at face value, and stop them losing out to touts and secondary sites selling at inflated prices with exorbitant booking fees. It’s fantastic to be working with highly respected specialist retailer Fopp, and we hope this new in-store service will allow more fans to be able to see their favourite artists without needing to scrimp and save to pay scalpers’ fees.”
Fopp commented: “We’re delighted that our loyal customers in Manchester can now drop off and collect their gig tickets whilst they shop with us. Fopp shoppers are true fans with a strong passion for live music so ethical ticketing service Twickets and Fopp are a great fit.”
